Haus Obsessed

I did not know who Sara Beltran was until this interview, but now I definitely do. Her apartment is inspiring and feeds the California beach girl inside of me. I love the recurring use of sea fans in her space. There is a simplicity in her decor and the overabundance of sea inspired paraphernalia emphasizes her love of the ocean. Even the framed sea fans add to this recurring theme. If you enjoy a simple space lacking a cluster of accessories, it is always interesting to pick one obsession to overuse around your home. If there is something that is the essence of you, don’t be afraid to put bits of it all over in different, decorative ways. Sara’s sea fans are the perfect example. She framed them, hung them, stood them, mounted them, while looking homey, interesting and clean. So if you have one accessory that really inspires you, whether it be skulls, gemstones, cameras, etc, don’t be afraid to let them decorate your space. And use inventive ways to show them off. Add a gilded frame around something that can be hung on a wall. Set a piece on a chair that is never used. Make a cluster of them on a beautiful table. Whatever it is, be creative. And, don’t be afraid of too much. You will know your tipping point for what you can take. After all, Shakespeare did ask “Can one desire too much of a good thing?”
